Prison Reform

We support prison reform and programs that try to deal with troubled youth who might otherwise end up in prison.

Viper works with the San Quentin Drama Workshop a theatre group which started in San Quentin and now performs in prisons and theatres around the world.

Inspired by the San Francisco Actors Workshop staging of Samuel Beckett's "Waiting for Godot" at San Quentin Prison on November of 1957, the inmates formed a Drama Group. Over a ten year period this inmate-directed Workshop presented some 35 plays for their prison audience. In December of 1960 they began producing the plays of Samuel Beckett.

Viper founder co-founded the Barbwire Theatre a theatre company consisting of all ex-convicts which toured the US promoting prison reform.
